1098-T and Income Tax Credit

If you are enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program as defined by the IRS regulations, you may qualify for an American Opportunity or Lifetime Learning Tax Credit. Tax credits are based on the amount of qualified tuition and related expenses, less grants and other tax-free educational assistance, and the taxpayer's adjusted gross income.

IRS Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement)

In previous years, your Form 1098-T included a figure in Box 2 that represented the qualified tuition and related expenses (QTRE) we billed to your student account for the calendar (tax) year. Due to a change to institutional reporting requirements under federal law, beginning with tax year 2018, we will report in Box 1 the amount of QTRE you paid during the year.

The University conducts business electronically in order to ensure ease of access and to reduce our carbon footprint. Therefore, University activities such as registration, student account billing, financial aid award letters, payroll direct deposit, student refund ACH, transcripts, grade retrieval, e-mail, and 1098-T forms are all processed and made available electronically. As part of the online registration process, students opt to allow Pacific to provide the IRS Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement) electronically by Jan. 31 each year, as required by the IRS.

Form 1098-T information for prior years is available to students through InsidePacific.

  • To access forms, choose the Pacific Today Tab. The “Tax Notifications (1098-T)” channel should be in the left-side column near the top of the page. Just type in the year and print the resulting page.

If you desire a paper copy of your Form 1098-T, you may request a copy by sending an email to studentaccounts@pacific.edu from your u.pacific.edu email address. Please ensure to include your name and student identification number in your email request. The paper 1098-T forms will only be mailed to the address currently on file at the time of the request.
