In the Bankruptcy Clinic, students gain practical skills experience in insolvency issues and proceedings. Students interview and counsel clients, and assist clients in all aspects of case assessment, negotiation & settlement, and representation of debtors in bankruptcy proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. Casework is complemented by a weekly seminar and by enrollment in the substantive Bankruptcy law course. Bankruptcy is a vital and expanding legal field with increased job opportunities.

Warren Jones brings his extensive practice experience in both the creditor/debtor and bankruptcy fields to his supervision of the Bankruptcy Clinic. Jones has served as a bankruptcy trustee in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, and his bankruptcy practice has included the representation of both debtors and creditors, as well as representation of trustees in bankruptcy. He has also served the Sacramento County Superior Court as a judge pro tem, and has been active in arbitration, mediation, and settlement conference programs established by the Court.
