Class of 1979
Managing Counsel, Chevron Corporation (1980-2016)
Brad Le Du developed an interest in commercial legal issues while a student at Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He joined Chevron Corporation shortly after graduation and spent his entire career serving in various positions around the world in Chevron’s Law Function. He eventually advanced to Chevron’s Leadership Team as a Managing Counsel.
Brad’s primary role at Chevron was providing legal advice, negotiating major transactions and structuring commercial arrangements for Chevron’s international upstream oil and gas investments. During the late 1980’s Brad assumed his first leadership role as the Land and Community Relations Manager for Chevron in Papua New Guinea. He later returned to the U.S. and worked as a Senior Counsel for Chevron’s international exploration division. He negotiated joint ventures for oil exploration and contracts with host governments. These assignments included work in China, Brazil, Italy, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Australia, Turkey, Cambodia and Venezuela.
From 2005 to 2009 Brad lived in Australia and managed the law department for Chevron Australia, one of Chevron’s largest subsidiaries. His legal team managed the legal affairs for the Gorgon LNG Development, a $40 billion construction project. After that, Brad worked in the U.S. serving as a Managing Counsel for Chevron’s Law Function Leadership Team until his retirement in 2016.
Brad now devotes much of his time to being an active alumnus for University of the Pacific. He is a founding member and the President of the Pacific East Bay Alumni Club.
When not engaged in university activities Brad spends most of his time enjoying family life at his home near Lake Tahoe and traveling with his wife, Judith, who is also a graduate of Pacific McGeorge.
