Andrew Schach is currently a project manager at Dignity Health where he works in contract drafting, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance, a calling that goes back to his inspiration to become an attorney. "I went to law school to help those who are overwhelmed by the legal system. I was injured in college and received poor medical care. I knew I had an action, but I did not know what to do or who to talk to in an intimidating and unknown legal community. My end goal was to be an approachable, helpful resource for those needing legal assistance."

Andrew decided it was time to explore law school when Pacific McGeorge held an open house in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. "I spoke with a student in the evening program and I ultimately chose McGeorge for its ability to support my career while attending school. I had been out of school for over five years and did not yet want to let go of the career I built."

Ultimately, Andrew was accepted to and chose to attend the evening program at McGeorge. Despite the demands of a full-time job and school in the evening, Andrew immersed himself in as many activities as he could in the McGeorge legal and volunteer community. He held an externship with a federal bankruptcy judge, participated in the campus bankruptcy clinic, and volunteered at the McGeorge Immigration Fair. These experiential learning opportunities proved practical tools for Andrew to transition from business and healthcare to individual legal services. "While not all of my activities were directly related to my career, I can confidently say they all helped to shape my career going forward."

Additionally, Andrew actively participated in multiple student organizations and intermural sports. "I would tell any prospective student to try as many new experiences as possible at McGeorge. Student organizations are great resources for information on course materials and study aides, networking and camaraderie."

As for Andrew's long-term plans, he looks forward to pivoting to individual client work. "I've worked extensively in healthcare, mergers and acquisitions and contracting for the last 10 years. I gained experience in aviation law, bankruptcy law and immigration law at McGeorge. I would like to take my knowledge, skills and experience and translate my background into an attorney who can help clients solve problems to achieve their objectives. The experiences I've had at McGeorge and beyond leave me feeling confident that I can go in that direction." Andrew plans to transition from healthcare in the near future and begin practicing in the Sacramento area. He hopes that his business background will make him a unique candidate for growing firms with multiple practice areas.
