Steven Muni has served for 10 years as an Assistant District Attorney in Santa Cruz County, two and one-half years as a civil lawyer in San Francisco, six years as a sole practitioner criminal and juvenile defense attorney in Santa Cruz, seven and one-half years as a Deputy District Attorney in Amador County, and for the last 14 years has been a Deputy Attorney General with the Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse, where he prosecutes, mostly criminally but also civilly, medical providers who commit large-scale Medicaid fraud. He also prosecutes the owners, operators and senior staff of nursing homes and assisted living facilities for the systemic neglect of their patients. He is also a regular instructor for the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units. He is a former co-chair of SacLEGAL, the Sacramento LGBT minority bar association.
