McGeorge's Daniel Croxall appeared on the The Full Pint Podcast to speak about his role at the law school, craft beer law, the class he teaches at McGeorge, why breweries need legal service, and brewhouse liabilities.
The conversation focused on Croxall's scholarship of crafter beer and his McGeorge class, California Craft Beer Law.
"We talked about quite a few craft beer-centric lawsuits, including intellectual property, employment, and even dogs and children in the taproom," Croxall said. "Listeners of the podcast will discover the complexities and substance of the legal needs independent craft brewers face on a daily basis."
Many of the legal issues that can confront craft brewers, such as exploding beer cans, recipes, branding and business partnerships, are more common than many people would expect, Croxall said. The craft beer industry, which began growing in earnest in the mid-2000s, contributed $76.2 billion to the U.S. economy in 2017 and accounted to more than 500,000 jobs, according to the Brewers Association.
The hour-long conversation was with Danny Becker, co-founder of The Full Pint website and podcast. The episode titled "Allegedly" was recorded on May 5 and is available through the podcast's website or podcast services such as iTunes. The podcast features craft beer brewers and key industry players, and is considered the voice of independent craft brewing, Croxall said.
