Day Division valedictorian Michael Hopkins and Evening Division valedictorian Paige Davidson headline a group of 15 new graduates who were inducted into the McGeorge Chapter of the Order of the Coif on May 17, 2019.
The Class of 2019 academic stars joined the prestigious honor society at an on-campus banquet hosted by Professor Leslie Gielow Jacobs, the president of the school's chapter and director of the Capital Center for Law & Policy.
Ann Patterson, the Evening Division Class of 2003 valedictorian, welcomed the new Coif members. She is the chief deputy legal secretary to Governor Gavin Newsom. In that role, she is a key advisor on judicial appointments and legislation.
The event marked the 37th annual Order of the Coif Congratulatory Luncheon for McGeorge, which holds the 59th chapter in an organization that counts 86 law schools in its membership. Other schools that boast Coif chapters include Yale, Stanford, and the University of Chicago. New graduates of all schools must have finished in the top 10 percent of their classes to qualify for election to membership.
Professor Clark Kelso, secretary/treasurer of the local association, introduced the new members to an audience of alumni who belong to the group and are invited every year to the banquet.
