McGeorge Distinguished Professor of Law Michael Vitiello (left) testified in Rome, Italy in the Aldo Moro Room in Parliament on issues surrounding legalization of marijuana on June 8, 2017. The presentation was organized by members of Parliament.

Marijuana law is one of the fastest growing areas of legal specialization. McGeorge Distinguished Professor of Law Michael Vitiello taught a seminar in Marijuana during spring semester 2017. He joined a small handful of professors around the country teaching a course on that topic. Two of the students in the seminar will have their final papers published in The University of the Pacific Law Review’s Volume 49 this academic year.

Not only is McGeorge one of the few law schools in the country offering a course in Marijuana Law, but Professor Vitiello has signed a contract with West Academic Publishing to co-author a casebook on the topic. His co-authors, Michigan Law Professors Howard Bromberg and Mark Osbeck, have already published Marijuana in a Nutshell.

Professor Vitiello taught a course on American Criminal Law: Recent Developments this spring at University of Parma, Italy. In addition to giving a number of lectures around Italy on issues involving legalization of marijuana, he testified in the Parliament in Rome on June 8 on those same issues.
