McGeorge School of Law is pleased to announce that Joseph Smallhoover has been appointed as Chair of the law school's International Board of Advisors, and Katharine Baragona has been appointed as Vice-Chair. Both will serve a two-year term on the Board from March 2016 through March 2018.

Mr. Smallhoover is a partner at Bryan Cave Paris and has practiced law in France and Germany for over 30 years. Before moving to Europe he practiced law in California and Pennsylvania as well. He practices in the areas of regulatory compliance affecting multi-national businesses and financial institutions; corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions (for both financial and strategic buyers and sellers); banking and financial law; acquisition financing; initial public offerings; public takeover bids; anti-corruption; data protection and privacy law; corporate restructurings and insolvency matters. Smallhoover has served as a member of the International Board since 2008.

Ms. Baragona is a Senior Infrastructure Finance Specialist at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Ms. Baragona has worked at law firms in London and Brussels, advising on finance and energy law matters. She has also worked at Citibank in Manhattan and London as an investment banker. In her current position, she continues to advise governments, development institutions, lenders and project sponsors on the structure and financing of energy or transportation projects that draw on private- and public-sector funding. Baragona graduated from McGeorge in 1990 and has served as a member International Board since 1995.

The McGeorge International Board provides guidance and opportunities for McGeorge students and alumni to gain experience in international law, and is closely tied to the law school's Global Center for Business and Development. Winfried van den Muijsenbergh, Partner at AKD N.V. stepped down as Chair at the March 2016 meeting of the International Board, after serving in that role since 2008.
