Michael Vitiello, Distinguished Professor of Law at McGeorge, wrote an op-ed, "Prop. 57 is a step toward reforming state's broken criminal justice sentencing system," on California's 2016 ballot proposition that appeared on the Sacramento Bee website Nov. 2, 2016 and in the Sunday, Nov. 6 print edition.

A nationally-recognized expert on criminal and sentencing law, Professor Vitiello's many articles appear in leading journals, and his work is widely cited by scholars around the country. His work on California's three-strikes law has been cited by the United States Supreme Court and the California Supreme Court. He is also well-known for his expertise on matters involving sentencing reform, and his analysis of the legal issues that would arise from the legalization of marijuana.
