McGeorge continued its remarkable run of regional success in the National Trial Competition (NTC) as Selena Farnesi and James Bradford scored a victory in the Region 13 tournament held Jan. 30-Feb 1, 2015, in Salem, Oregon.
Farnesi and Bradford will represent the law school in the national finals of the prestigious 40-year-old event, scheduled March 11-15 in Houston. Their regional win marks the seventh year in the past decade that a McGeorge team has advanced to the championship finals. A UC Berkeley team also qualified for a trip to Texas. Twenty-eight teams from around the country will compete in the finals of the NTC, which is sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Yale is the defending national champion.
Another McGeorge team acquitted itself admirably in the regional hosted by Willamette University College of Law. Anna Padgett, Kathryne Baldwin and Tia Kamokai advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition. Each of the 14 ABA-accredited law schools in northern California, Oregon and Washington fielded two teams in the regional.
The McGeorge teams were coached by prominent Sacramento attorneys — and former McGeorge trial team stars — Jeff Schaff, '10, and Alan Donato, '09, both of whom won trips to the NTC nationals when they competed as students.
