McGeorge School of Law hosted its annual Dine with Alumni event at the McGeorge Student Center on Friday, Oct. 23, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The always-popular event had a great turn out, including 87 students and 25 alumni.
Students and alumni made meaningful connections at this popular event, where tables were arranged by legal specialization and geographic location. When they arrived, guests were provided cards with conversation starters and a few “Would you rather…” questions to answer about other people in the room. Students and alumni who completed the cards were entered to win McGeorge gear raffle prizes. Molly Stafford, Director of Career Development and Angelique Ellis, Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, opened the formal program by explaining the value of networking and encouraging everyone to participate in the “Would you Rather” challenge.
Megan Moore, '08, Vice President for Board Planning for the Alumni Board, made remarks during dinner regarding the importance of the mentor/mentee relationship. Later in the evening, Ms. Stafford gave an overview of the McGeorge Alumni-Mentor Network, and Ms. Ellis announced raffle prize winners. When dessert was served, students were invited to switch tables to connect with alumni in different practice areas. Attendees stayed long after dinner, continuing to network and make valuable connections.
"The alchemy of alumni and students mixing was so energizing that there’s no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best events of the year for forging real connections between legal professionals and aspiring lawyers," said Steve Hansen, Director of Capital Initiatives for the Capital Center for Law & Policy at McGeorge School of Law.
