Amanda Iler and Danny Jensen won a trip to the championship finals of the 39th Annual National Trial Competition with a flawless performance in the NTC Region 13 tournament held Feb. 21-22, 2014, in Santa Clara.

The McGeorge team beat host Santa Clara University in the final round and will represent the law school in the 28-team nationals, scheduled for March 27-28 in Austin, Texas. In their four regional rounds, Iler and Jensen received 12 out of 12 votes from the three-member judicial panels. Their success marks the sixth time in the last nine years that a McGeorge team has qualified for the national championship.

McGeorge's other regional tandem, Andrea Morris and Greg Hayes, also excelled. They won on points in their final round but lost in a 2-1 split-judicial vote to Stanford, which joins the victorious McGeorge entry in the Texas finals. The Sacramento school, coached by Keith Hill, '96, and Thienvu Ho, was the only one to advance both of its teams to the finals.

The NTC event, which is sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association, is the preeminent mock trial competition in the country. More than 160 law schools with 302 mock trial teams competed in 14 regional mock trial competitions held across the country last weekend.

The national finals field this year will include teams from Yale, Washington University, Northwestern and George Washington, which eliminated defending national champion Georgetown in one of the regionals. Perennial mock trial powerhouses Temple and South Texas will also be represented.
