Hayes Prevails in Global Lawyering Skills II Final Four

Justice Ronald Robie '67, Magistrate Judge Allison Claire, Judge Stephanie Thacker and GLS Final Four Winner Gregory Hayes '14.

Second-year student Gregory Hayes won the Top Oral Advocate Award at the McGeorge Global Lawyering Skills (GLS) Final Four competition on April 2. Hayes also won a best brief award.

Judge Stephanie Thacker, U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, presided over the program. She was joined by California Court of Appeal Third District Justice Ronald Robie '67, and U.S District Court, Eastern District of California Magistrate Judge Allison Claire.

The three finalists who joined Hayes in the last round were Anastasya Uskov, Brian Wiltshire and Daniel Jensen. Three other best brief awards went to Jill Schubert, Aaron Montoya and Brianna Garner.

Teaching assistants this academic year included Vivian Cho, Donald Gensler, Alisha Heilman, Natalie Kuffel, Marshal Parks, Ali Rahkshanifar, Carlos Ramirez, Cole Sherman and Anthony Yu.

Professors Mary-Beth Moylan and Stephanie Thompson are the director and assistant director, respectively, of the GLS II program. Adrienne Brungess, Gretchen Franz, Maureen Moran, Hether Macfarlane, Michael Pinkerton, Jeff Proske, Ric Schickele, Ed Telfeyan and Maureen Watkins comprise the GLS faculty.
