Professor Steve McCaffrey spoke in mid-November in Seoul, Korea, as a guest lecturer at a United Nations regional course in international law for young attorneys throughout greater Asia.
McCaffrey lectured on "An Introduction to International Law" on November 15-16, 2010, at a forum co-sponsored by the Seoul National University and the Korean International Cooperation Agency. His audience included lawyers from 23 countries that stretch from the Solomon Islands to Lebanon.
One of the foremost water law authorities in the world, McCaffrey will be involved in a UNESCO conference on transboundary groundwater set for December 6-8 in Paris, France. He also will stop in The Hague, Netherlands, to check on new developments in the Nicaragua-Costa Rica dispute over control of the San Juan River. He was a member of the Nicaraguan legal team that won a 2009 victory in The World Court in that matter.
In addition, McCaffrey will participate in a UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia regional workshop on trade and environment from December 15-16 in Beirut, Lebanon.
