McGeorge offers its first distance-learning course, Mental Disability Law, this summer.
Students in the three-unit course will meet on only two days, May 21 and June 25, with the remainder of the class entirely on-line with mandatory chatrooms, CD-ROMs and regular reading assignments. Adjunct Professor Pam Cohen, a nationally known legal consultant on national policy issues related to community-based care for older adults with mental disabilities, will teach the two live sessions. The course was created by Professor Michael Perlin of New York Law School. A former director of the New Jersey Division of Mental Health Advocacy, he is considered the foremost expert on the subject.
