Library Hours

The Sacramento Campus and (McGeorge) Law Library is open to University students and employees only as follows:

Regular Hours, Spring 2024 — Jan. 8 through May 12

Sunday through Thursday — 7:30 a.m. to midnight
Friday and Saturday — 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Spring Break Hours

Saturday, March 9 through Friday, March 15 — 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., daily

Regular hours will resume, Saturday, March 16

Entry to the library is via card swipe using your Pacific ID card.


Our Mission

The Sacramento campus and law library serves both the University community and the McGeorge School of Law. The campus library cooperates with the University Libraries system in supporting the education and research needs of University of the Pacific students and faculty by providing study and research space and partnering with Stockton-based reference librarians. The law library provides informational resources and instruction which supports the many academic programs of the McGeorge School of Law, meets the education needs of its law students, and facilitates the teaching, research, scholarship, and service undertaken by the law faculty. The library also provides practice-related materials for the use of our alumni and local attorneys.

About the Library

As the hub for research, scholarship and late-night studying for students, faculty and the legal community alike, the library is the heart of the campus. In 1992, the library was named to commemorate the singular achievements of Gordon D. Schaber, Dean of the Law School from 1957-1991. Through Dean Schaber's innovative leadership, McGeorge grew into a unique living and learning environment of national stature with full accreditation by the ABA, AALS and the Order of the Coif.

With a robust research collection that is partnered with the University Libraries system, the library is your one-stop, comprehensive research facility blending traditional and new media. From print, electronic, and audiovisual, our expert librarians and staff ensure students and faculty locate the information they need and also consistently conduct legal research workshops to train students about how to use library resources.

As a student, you'll be spending some quality time researching and studying in the library's variety of study spaces to suit any preference — including quiet study spaces, small group discussion areas and several private study rooms for groups of three to six students. In addition, the Computer Lab offers six student workstations for computer-assisted research, as well as email, word processing, presentation software, printing and more, or you can go wireless on your laptop throughout the library.
