LLM in U.S. Law & Policy

McGeorge offers a unique program leading to a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in U.S. Law or in Public Law & Policy. The U.S. Law and Policy Program is designed specifically for foreign lawyers or graduates with a non-U.S. law degree. Students earn the LLM in U.S. Law and Policy after completion of 24 units of study. At the choice of the student, the program may be completed in one year (two semesters) or in two years (three or four semesters). There are two required courses, and students may choose to focus on specific substantive areas, such as:

  • International or Domestic Business Law
  • Intellectual Property
  • Civil and Constitutional Rights
  • Criminal Justice
  • Environmental Law

Students may also choose to pursue a Master Thesis or Directed Research under the supervision of a faculty. For more information about the program, courses and requirements, click here.

Student Testimonial

"The U.S. Law & Policy LLM program at McGeorge was an amazing experience. I met highly intelligent and warm-hearted people who helped me to figure out my future and they still remain my friends today. The LLM program also provided me with excellent legal knowledge that I used for my Ph.D. Now I am a proud member of the Zhejiang Gongshang University Law School, a good partner of McGeorge, and it wouldn't be possible if not for the remarkable experience I acquired at the McGeorge School of Law." — Margarita Vladimirova, ’12, Law Professor at Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law
