Application Instructions

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Pacific McGeorge offers both full-time and part-time programs leading to the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree through its Day and Evening Divisions. Students in the part-time program may request classes scheduled during daytime hours. First-year students begin their studies in the Fall Semester; there is no mid-year entry program.

The number of available seats for each entering class is limited. Application files completed by March 15 receive priority review. Results from the February LSAT administration are timely; applications with June LSAT results are considered if spaces become available during the summer months.

Pre-Legal Education: Candidates for admission for the J.D. program have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university prior to enrollment at the School of Law. In special circumstances, an applicant who would be only in senior year undergraduate standing at the time of enrollment may be considered. A combined 3-3 bachelor’s/J.D. program is available to University of the Pacific undergraduates with the bachelor’s degree awarded after satisfactory completion of first-year law school.

Application Requirements: The following application materials are required:

1. Completed application form
2. Signed and dated Signature Form

Recommendation letters are not required but, if received, will be included with other information for review in the decision process.

Personal Statement: An applicant’s personal statement is an opportunity to provide information that the applicant believes should be considered. It might focus on relevant personal experiences, academic and intellectual interests, college grades and course selection, employment experiences, diversity characteristics, or career goals.

LSAT/LSDAS Registration: Applicants must register with Law Services for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS). Transcripts of prior college and university coursework must be furnished directly to Law Services. LSAT scores must be from administrations within five years prior to the year of enrollment. Applicants whose undergraduate degrees are not from educational institutions within the United States should consult the LSAT/LSDAS Information Book regarding LSDAS registration.

Transfer applicants may have copies of their LSAT/LSDAS reports sent directly from their law schools to the Admissions Office.

APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR FINAL ACTION UNTIL ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law maintains a long-standing policy of not discriminating in any of its activities on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, disability, marital status, age, color, or religious belief.
