Summer School

Pacific McGeorge offers one of the most extensive (and flexible) summer programs in the country, with both core courses and advanced electives available. Working students? No worries - courses are offered during evening hours. Even if time is scarce, there’s also an intensive skills course available.

Summer School Abroad
After the regular school year, why not change your scenery and study law in a foreign country!? Pacific McGeorge pioneered overseas summer law school programs, and offers the following venues for summer study:

  • Summer Program in Salzburg, Austria
Pacific McGeorge was one of the first law schools in the United States to offer overseas programs in international law, and it has operated a summer program at the University of Salzburg continuously every year since 1975. For eighteen consecutive years, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has co-taught a course on Fundamental Rights during this program. The long-standing relationship with the University of Salzburg has also led to a semester abroad program for J.D. students and an LL.M. in Transnational Business Practice program for law graduates from around the world.

  • NEW! Summer Program in London, United Kingdom
In 2007, Pacific McGeorge inaugurated a three-week summer program in collaboration with Queen Mary School of Law at the University of London. This program focuses on international business law courses using faculty from both Pacific McGeorge and Queen Mary, and it includes visits to such legal institutions as the Inns of Court and the British Parliament. The program is timed so that students may attend both the London and Salzburg programs, earning units towards their J.D. degrees in both cities.

  • Summer Program in St. Petersburg, Russia
Pacific McGeorge is an official co-sponsor with Cleveland State University of a program operated by the University of Arkansas at St. Petersburg State University. The courses in the program focus on both Russian and international law.

  • Summer Law Institute in Suzhou, China
Pacific McGeorge is an official co-sponsor with Bucerius Law School of Hamburg, Germany of a summer program jointly operated by Cornell University Law School and the Kenneth Wang School of Law at Soochow University in Suzhou. The program allows American, German and Chinese law students to work in teams in a course titled International Business Transactions with Chinese Characteristics.
