Joint Degree Programs

You may earn a joint degree by concurrently pursuing the Pacific McGeorge Juris Doctor and another graduate program at the University of the Pacific, Stockton Campus, The University of California at Davis, or California State University, Sacramento. Cooperative links provide a wide range of choices.

The requirements are simple. An administrator approves your joint degree program upon demonstration of a connection between your selected graduate program and your intended use for the J.D. degree. Approval is automatic for M.B.A. programs or the C.S.U.S. Masters in Public Policy Administration program. Most joint degree students take a typical first year of law school to assure adequate grounding before undertaking concurrent studies. So long as your course work toward your second degree is taken while you are a law student, from 6 to 12 units of cross-credit will be awarded by Pacific McGeorge for classes taken in your other degree program.

This, coupled with cross-credit awarded by the other participating institution when available, can shorten the combined time necessary for completion of your degrees by 6 months to a year. For example, full-time students typically earn a J.D./M.B.A. in a total of four years, rather than the three plus two which would be needed for separate pursuit of the degrees. Students interested in a joint J.D./M.B.A. should separately apply to one of the participating graduate schools: The Eberhardt School of Business, University of the Pacificor California State University, Sacramento.

Details concerning satisfaction of residency requirements for the Juris Doctor degree and submission of necessary information to the Registrar are in the Pacific McGeorge Catalogue and reviewed at the time of program approval.
