JD Certificate Programs

The law school operates a full-time program in the Day Division requires three years of law study, while the part-time Evening Division program requires four years. Each operates on a concurrent semester system with a fall semester that begins in mid-August and a spring semester that begins in mid-January. Evening Division students may earn the J.D. degree in three and one-half years by satisfying graduation requirements through enrollment in an accelerated evening program. The required first-year curriculum for full-time students includes Criminal Law, Contracts, Torts, Property, Legal Process and Civil Procedure. In advanced years, students take a combination of required and elective courses and there is some flexibility in class time selection. The J.D. program contains more than 100 electives in the areas of advocacy, business, commerce, government, environmental law, intellectual property, international law, and many other specializations. Pacific McGeorge features one of the largest selections of clinical and practice-oriented electives of any ABA law school.

Joint degree programs are available with limited cross-credit for acquisition of the J.D./M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration) through the University’s School of Business or through CSU Sacramento’s School of Business. A J.D./M.P.P.A. (Master of Public Policy and Administration) is also available in cooperation with CSUS.

Pacific McGeorge offers a full-time, one-year graduate program leading to the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Business Practice. This 25-year-old program combines an a semester of on-campus class work with student options including an externship placement in a foreign law office, or a semester abroad at the University of Salzburg, Austria. The law school’s Master of Laws in Government and Public Policy offers a one- or two-year program designed for young attorneys who wish to pursue a career in the public sector. An individualized LL.M./J.S.D. program in International Water Resources is also available.
