Intellectual Property Faculty
Jed Scully, Director, Intellectual Property Concentration; Professor of Law
Professor Scully is a graduate of UCLA School of Law, later serving as a member of the faculty and as campus legal counsel, and in private practice in entertainment law in Los Angeles. He began teaching copyright, entertainment law, and intellectual property at Loyola Law School in 1970, directed the Loyola Law Clinics and began an Entertainment Law Clinic that served media clients. Professor Scully joined the Pacific McGeorge faculty in 1979 and currently teaches Copyright and the Senior Seminar in Advanced Intellectual Property.
Bernhard Kreten, Adjunct Professor of Law
Professor Kreten is a University of Pennsylvania graduate mechanical engineer, later entering practice as a Registered Patent Agent in 1973. He graduated from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1988 and has been engaged in patent, trademark, and intellectual property private practice since that time. Professor Kreten currently teaches Trademark Law.
Mike Mireles, Adjunct Professor of Law
Professor Mireles received his J.D. from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1998 and then received an LL.M. in Intellectual Property from George Washington University School of Law. He then served as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Federal Circuit before rejoining the litigation department at Downey, Brand, Seymour and Rohwer, where he specializes in intellectual property, e-commerce, and Internet law. Professor Mireles teaches Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition.
Jeffrey A. Rich, Adjunct Professor of Law
Professor Rich is of counsel to Weintraub, Genshlea, Chediak and Sproul, where he specializes in intellectual property taxation and valuation. He received his legal education at the University of Miami School of Law in 1982, after earlier qualifying as a Certified Public Accountant and receiving an MS in Taxation from DePaul University in Chicago. Professor Rich teaches Business Aspects of Intellectual Property.
James M. Ritchey, Adjunct Professor of Law
Professor Ritchey received his MS and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University and his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law. He is a tenured Professor of Chemistry at California State University, Sacramento, in private practice specializing in patent prosecution and defense and teaches Patent Law.
