Government and Public Policy Programs

Only ten minutes from the Capitol Building in our nation's largest state economy, Pacific McGeorge students begin their careers by working with professors and policymakers to examine critical issues confronting federal, state, and local government. The Government and Public Policy Programs provide a unique curriculum that gives students professional experience while earning either a J.D. with a Certificate in Governmental Affairs or an LL.M. in Government and Public Policy. Students take advantage of opportunities to:

  • draft legislation,
  • discuss legislation and issues with legislative staff and agency officials,
  • assist with public forums on topics of current interest,
  • research and write analyses of significant public policy issues, and
  • participate in internships in and around the State Capitol.

A Certificate in Governmental Affairs, or a Masters Degree in Government and Public Policy, opens doors to jobs throughout government and the private sector. Students have the opportunity to participate in activities of the Institute for Legislative Practice, the Judicial Administration Bureau, and the Government Agency Resource Center.
