Professor Spurgeon is also Clinical Professor Law at the University of Utah College of Law, where he earlier served as Professor of Law (1980-1993) and Dean (1983-1990). From 1993-2003, he was Professor of Law at the University of Georgia School of Law and Dean from 1993-1998. He has been a visiting professor at both Stanford and New York University Law Schools. He has also had extensive law practice experience, including 12 years at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker in Los Angeles. Spurgeon’s specialty areas include elder law, health law, trusts and estates, and estate planning. He is the co-author of Federal Taxation of Trusts, Grantors and Beneficiaries (3rd ed., Warren Gorham & Lamont 1997, with John Perschel). He serves as executive director of the Borchard Foundation Center on Law and Aging and director of the National Senior Citizens Law Center and special advisor to the American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging.
