The Franchise Tax Board is the Department that administers personal income taxes and corporate taxes for the State of California.  The Franchise Tax Board also is authorized to collect debts on behalf of other state agencies, and certain county and local entities.  The Franchise Tax Board receives and processes over 14 million personal income tax returns each year.

Course Description: Students must have completed a Federal Income Tax course or have equivalent prior work experience in the income tax field.  Students will research and draft briefs for administrative appeals before the State Board of Equalization, research and write internal memoranda and private letter rulings, and, schedule permitting, advocate before the State Board of Equalization.  Preference will be given to students with either undergraduate course work in accounting, work experience in the tax field, or advanced law school course work in corporate or partnership tax. 07/10
