Wood Will Preside Over Final Four
March 27, 2008Judge Diane P. Wood of the United States 7 th Circuit Court of Appeals will preside over the 2008 Appellate and International Advocacy Final Four competition at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 27 in the Pacific McGeorge courtroom. Second-year students Jill Himlan, Allysia Holland, Jim Houston and Samira Noorali will compete for Top Oral Advocate honors. Each shares the Diana P. Scott Prize for outstanding achievement in the moot court program. Judge Wood, who will be joined by two other jurists on the Final Four bench, is a senior lecturer of law at the University of Chicago Law School. She was a full-time professor at the prestigious law school from 1981 to 1993 before serving as a deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division. In 1995, she was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals. Judge Wood will also deliver a faculty colloquium speech, “Affirmative Action in Higher Education: Comparative Notes from India,” earlier in the day at 12 noon.
