Civil Rights Division Association

For fifty years, the Civil Rights Division, US Department of Justice, has played a major role in enforcing civil rights law, and a leadership role in developing creative and effective legal tools, compiling a remarkable record of accomplishment.

In 1957 Congress enacted the first Civil Rights Law since Reconstruction. The Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice was established by Attorney General Order of December 9, 1957. 2007 marks the Division's 50th Anniversary.

CRDA is composed of former and current employees of the Civil Rights Division attorneys, paralegals and staff. The Association exists to foster scholarship, recognition and fellowship. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The Division has pursued a noble mission. It has mustered the facts proving discrimination; it has shaped the governing legal principles; and it has ensured broad compliance with the laws forbidding discrimination. The CRDA hopes to further that noble vision.
