Professor Swanson is the assistant director of the Institute for Administrative Justice, the nationally recognized arm of Pacific McGeorge that has expertise in all aspects of administrative adjudication and has major federal and state hearing and hearing officer training contracts. She oversees the California Parole Advocacy Program, which provides legal representation for all state parolees facing probable cause and parole revocation hearings. Professor Swanson began her career as a senior counselor at the law school’s Victims of Crime Resource Center, later serving five years as a staff attorney with the IAJ. She directed all functions at the California Special Education Hearing Office from 2000 to 2005 when that program was under contract with the state of California. She has also worked closely with the Social Security Administration in training disability hearing officers.
