Professor Hall is a 1999 honors graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He clerked for Judge David F. Levi of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and for Judge Marsha S. Berzon of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He later practiced law in San Francisco for five years, specializing in complex commercial litigation and appellate litigation. In 2006, Professor Hall left private practice to work as a special assistant to Judge Levi in his capacity as chairman of the Judicial Conference’s Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure. The committee oversees the work of the Advisory Committees on the Rules of Evidence, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Bankruptcy Procedure, and Appellate Procedure.  In this capacity, Professor Hall was involved in the ongoing project to revise and improve procedural rules that govern litigation in federal courts.  Before joining Pacific McGeorge, Professor Hall taught as a visiting professor at the UC Davis School of Law. Professor Hall's research interests focus on federal jurisdiction, civil procedure, and professional responsibility.
