Centers of Distinction

Three Centers of Distinction complement the influential faculty scholarship, the comprehensive student education and wide ranging service to the local and global community that happen at Pacific McGeorge.

Scholarship. Engaged faculty operating within the three Centers of Distinction challenge students in and out of the classroom and produce focused scholarship that contributes to thoughtful policymaking here and throughout the world.

Students. Through tailored J.D. Certificate, LL.M. (Master of Laws), and J.S.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science) programs, the three Centers of Distinction allow students the opportunity to delve deeply into specialized areas of legal practice in small classes and policy seminars, through skills practice and competitions, and by means of hands-on learning in externships with courts and in the legislature and government agencies.

Service. The three Centers of Distinction house Institutes dedicated to contributing to the growth of the law in particular areas, such as sustainable development, strengthening of legal infrastructure in developing countries, and improvement of the laws of health and aging. Through these Institutes and other Initiatives, faculty and students provide community service as they add to the development of the law.
