First Year Mock Trial Competition
The Competition
Even first-year students can get involved in advocacy competitions at Pacific McGeorge. In the spring semester, all first-year students are invited to participate in the Ben Frantz First Year Mock Trial Competition. Each year over 100 students take this opportunity to hone their rhetorical skills. Students who receive top honors qualify for a Ben and Verdele Frantz Trial Advocacy Scholarship.
Advanced students who
are members of Pacific McGeorge's
Mock Trial Competition Team conduct training sessions in
all phases of trial work, including opening statements, direct
and cross examinations, handling witnesses and exhibits, and
closing arguments. Team members serve as judges for preliminary
rounds. Twenty participants are selected to enter the final
rounds, and three of the finalists are awarded Top Honors.
