ABA Appellate Advocacy Competition

March 2-5, 2005

Again this year, Pacific McGeorge will send two three-student teams to New York City for the annual ABA Appellate Advocacy competition. In past years, Pacific McGeorge has won high honors and awards at the competition. Two years ago, Pacific McGeorge placed a team in the final rounds (which took place in Chicago) and also earned top brief recognition. Last year, Andrea Tavenier was awarded the top oralist prize in New York.

Over 70 schools participate in the competition with many sending two teams. Students are required to prepare written briefs on a pending hypothetical case to the U.S. Supreme Court. The briefs count one-third toward the final scores. Oral arguments account for the balance of the scoring.

This year's teams, coached by Professor Ed Telfeyan, are composed of the following students: Daniel Del Rio 3D, Chris Madsen 3D, Erich Shiners 3E, Trent Diehl 4E, Laura Dumas 3D and David Burkett 3D.
