Ebadi to Speak at Pacific

Dr. Shirin Ebadi, the 2003 Nobel Peace Laureate, human rights activist and lawyer from Iran will speak at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 3 at the University of the Pacific’s Faye Spanos Concert Hall in Stockton. Her talk is entitled Iran Awakening: A Story of Revolution and Hope. She is the first Iranian and the first Muslin woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Sponsored by the School of International Studies, Dr. Ebadi is this year’s David Gerber Lecturer. Past Gerber speakers have included President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, former President Mary Robinson of Ireland and Bishop Tutu.
