Servicemembers Legal Defense Network Panel
September 26, 2006|
The McGeorge Solomon Amendment Amelioration Task Force is sponsoring a panel presentation by, and discussion with, five representatives of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network at 5 p.m., Tuesday, September 26 in Classroom C. The network is a national, non-profit legal services, watchdog and policy organization dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel affected by the “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” policy. Moderator Juian Chang, a SLDN board member, will chair a panel that includes: Steve Boeckels (Army), a West Point graduate who was outed and discharged; Zoe Duning (Navy), still an active commander in the Naval Reserves; Jim Maloney, Military Equality member: and Julianne Sohn (Marines), an officer who served in Iraq. They will tell their own stories and argue that our nation’s defense capabilities are adversely affected by the current policy.
