Supreme Court Preview 2005

September 28, 2005

Pacific McGeorge School of Law     September 28, 2005

On October 3, 2005, the Court began hearing oral arguments for the 2005-06 Term. The Court’s docket includes topics as far ranging as the correct standard of review for a state parental notification statute; whether there is an exception to the exclusionary rule for evidence seized after a 4th Amendment “knock and announce” violation, and whether it is illegal under the Sherman Act for a joint venture to set the prices at which the joint venture sells its products.

At the 2005 Supreme Court Preview program, members of the faculty considered three of those cases:

Gonzales v. Oregon- presented by Professor John Sims

Maryland v. Blake-Presented by Professor Ruth Jones

Rumsfeld v. FAIR—Presented by Professor Leslie Jacobs
