U.S. News and World Report, the unofficially acknowledged leader in assigning a rank order to professional schools, including schools of law, has ranked the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in the 90th position among all ABA accredited law schools. Moving well into the Top 100 law schools represents a significant gain for Pacific McGeorge.
“Since my arrival as Dean of Pacific McGeorge, I’ve often said two things,” beamed Dean Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker upon receiving news of the just-released rankings. “This law school is a jewel too little known, and we are a law school on the move.” Dean Parker continued, “We all know that such things don't just happen. At last, Pacific McGeorge is beginning to be recognized as the wonderful school it has always been!”
Donald V. DeRosa, University of the Pacific’s President, offered his congratulations to Dean Parker and the law school, “Being ranked solidly among the top schools is a fine accomplishment of which the entire University is very proud.”
Rankings are based upon a variety of objective factors including the GPA and LSAT scores of entering students, as well as subjective factors such as a ‘quality assessment’ provided by selected faculty from other law schools.
“Pacific McGeorge School of Law’s jump in the rankings is a source of great pride for the school’s faculty, staff, students, and alumi. This is also a powerful recruiting tool since every student who applies to law school looks carefully at the U.S. News rankings,” explains Adam Barrett, Assistant Dean of Admissions at Pacific McGeorge. “We’ve always known this is a top flight school, and now we have it in black and white.”
