Manson to be Honored at Pacific McGeorge Commencement

Craig Manson, the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, will be honored at the 2004 University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law commencement ceremony at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 15 at Sacramento’s Memorial Auditorium.

Manson, a 1981 McGeorge graduate, will be the keynote speaker at the graduation exercise culminating the law school’s 80 th academic year.

Manson oversees the National Parks Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He was a Sacramento County Superior Court judge prior to his appointment by President George W. Bush and his confirmation by the U.S. Senate in January 2002. Manson was in private practice in Sacramento from 1989 to 1993 before his appointment as general counsel for the California Department of Fish and Game by Governor Pete Wilson. Manson began his legal career in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps and is presently a colonel in the Air National Guard.

Student speakers for the commencement will be William Diedrich for the Day division and Darrin Lim for the Evening Division.

Pacific McGeorge will award 259 Juris Doctor degrees and 19 Master of Laws degrees. Presiding over the ceremony will be Dean Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker and University of Pacific President Donald V. DeRosa.
