Students learn the ins and outs of administrative hearings, a key forum for many specialty practices, through:
- classroom exercises
- mock hearings
- observance of actual hearings concerning welfare rights, motor vehicle issues, unemployment insurance, or social security
- drafting of decisions as hearing officers
Business and Community Development Clinic
Students in the Business and Community Development Clinic provide small and emerging businesses advice on legal matters, including:
- incorporation
- protection of intellectual property rights
- employment law matters
- environmental and regulatory compliance. Top
Community Legal Services Clinic
Pacific McGeorge students represent indigent individuals in state and federal court and before administrative tribunals in a variety of civil litigation maters, including:
- landlord/tenant disputes
- divorce issues
- child custody proceedings
- unemployment insurance matters
- bankruptcy cases
Community Legal Services is an excellent means to experience what general civil practice with an emphasis on family law will be like. Students work on cases for a full academic year, and have the option of continuing for a second year with a student leadership role on the Community Legal Services Governing Board. Top
Immigration Clinic
Under the supervision of a State Bar certified specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law and a full-time clinician, students assist low-income individuals with adjustments of status and naturalization matters such as:
- family petitions

Legislative Process, Strategy and Ethics
Students learn how to screen, monitor, analyze, and draft legislation; how to research legislative intent; and how to guide and influence the course of legislation. Then, they have a legislative or lobbying internship with, for example:

Parole Representation Clinic
Students in the Parole Representation Clinic represent incarcerated individuals before the California Parole Board. This presents an excellent opportunity to learn firsthand about incarceration issues and to handle all aspects of a disputed case, including:
- initial client interviewing
- case theory development
- factual investigation
- oral advocacy at hearing
- witness examination
- written argument
