Globalizing the Curriculum Workshop – January 3, 2007

Globalizing the Law School Curriculum
Washington, DC
January 3 rd, 2007

The workshop is targeting instructors interested in incorporating "global issues" into their Civil Procedure, Property, Contracts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law or Torts classes, but who feel that they need background knowledge. The workshop will last one day. The morning will be devoted to an overview of International and Comparative Law by Professors Stephen McCaffrey, of the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and Mathias Reimann, of the University of Michigan School of Law. Following the morning session, there will be a discussion of alternative curricular approaches - from special courses through integration of materials into traditional core courses. The rest of the afternoon will be devoted to subject specific concurrent break-out groups in which attendees will receive an introduction to the impact of international and comparative law on Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Property and Torts. These breakout sessions will be taught by faculty who have written on the international or comparative law aspects of these subjects.

The cost for attending this workshop is $100 per trainee, which will cover a continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments and materials to be distributed at the workshop.
