Wellness Week 2017

SBA Wellness Committee & Office of Student Affairs Present:

Wellness Week — March 6 to March 9

Wellness is a positive approach to living where we become aware of and make choices for overall wholeness, happiness, and well-being. Join us for a week of stress-relief, relaxation, education, and fun!

Monday, March 6

Color Me Calm | Materials available all day | Student Center Table
Need some stress relief but don't have time to attend an "event"? Come pick up a coloring sheet and some crayons to go! Coloring stimulates brain areas related to imagination, relaxation, and creativity, and is an active form of meditation. We'll have materials available all day — help yourself.

Free Yoga Class with the Yoga Club | 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. | S=3
Come join the Yoga Club for an hour of FREE yoga! Karen is excited to be back with us. Class will be suitable for all levels, including those new to yoga. Please bring a yoga mat or towel; there will be a few extra mats available to borrow if you forget. Please contact Paula Nguyen, Yoga Club President, at with any questions.

Tuesday, March 7

Tea Time Tuesday | Tea available all day | Student Center Table
Need some stress relief but don't have time to attend an "event"? Come fill your reusable mug with some hot tea! Drinking tea can help your body relax and process stress. We'll have tea available all day - help yourself.

Therapy Dogs | Noon to 1 p.m. | Quad
Need a little canine comfort? Come relieve some stress by loving up the Lend-A-Heart therapy dogs! Research has shown that it only takes 15 to 30 minutes with your pet to feel more relaxed and calm. Please contact Wesley Lunkley, SBA Wellness Committee Co-Chair, at with any questions.

Wednesday, March 8

10-minute Chair Massages (advance sign up required!) | 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. | Library Rotunda
Take 10! Did you know a 10-minute chair massage can increase performance and productivity, boost your immune system, and relieve tension and tired muscles? The massage therapists use techniques that focus on the upper part of the body — neck, head, shoulders, back and arms. Sign up in the Student Center.

Spiritual Wellness in a Time of Uncertainty — Roundtable Discussion with Pacific's Dean of Religious Life (lunch will be served) | Noon to 1 p.m. | S-19
Join Dr. Johl Lohr (University of the Pacific’s Dean of Religious Life), for an informal discussion about spiritual wellness in a time of uncertainty. As the Dean of Religious Life, Joel is passionate about religious diversity, dialogue, and interreligious relations. He is also deeply committed to whole person development. Professional Attire Clothing Swap | All Day | CDO Lobby
Out with the old, in with the new! Clean out your closets and drawers to make room for new treasures ... Bring your still-in-style, gently worn, totally wearable clothes, shoes, and accessories that you just don’t love anymore, and leave with new clothes you’re excited to wear. We welcome items for both men and women. Any unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill. Please bring clean items without holes, stains, etc. Please contact the CDO at  with any questions.

Healthy Salad Picnic + Climbing Wall | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. | Quad
Join us for a Wellness Week tradition – our Healthy Salad Picnic – with a fun new addition: a giant climbing wall! Last year the salads were tasty and we'll be sure to deliver this year too. Plus rock climbing builds muscle and endurance, boosts brain function, and relieves stress! Please contact Elise Rice at with any questions.

Wellness Week Social Media Photo Challenge

Join us for a four day social media photo challenge and earn a wellness week t-shirt! The rules are simple: Four Posts (March 6 — Mindset Monday, March 7 – Team Tuesday, March 8 – Wellness Wednesday, March 9 – Thoughtful Thursday), with the hashtag #mcgeorgewellness, gets you a snazzy t-shirt. T-shirts will be available for pickup at the Wellness Week Picnic on Thursday, March 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Quad. Please contact Rosy Delara at with any questions.
