Experiential Education in China 2008
The Pacific McGeorge Center for Global Business and Development and the Center for Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution held a two-day conference of legal educators from China and the United States, examining the role of experiential education in Chinese law schools.
The conference explored the theory of experiential education and the role of the lawyer in China.
It featured panels on the transferability of American experiential education techniques to other countries and possible curricula in advocacy and clinical education. There was also a session on what strategies will increase the availability of skills education in China.
The conference was part of a U.S. Agency for International Development-sponsored partnership between Pacific McGeorge School of Law, American University's Washington College of Law, China University of Political Science and Law, South China University of Technology, adn Zhejiang Gongshang University.
Establishing the rule of law requires the expertise and dedication of skilled lawyers. Chinese law schools can contribute to the rule of law by training future generations to master essential practical and ethical competencies.
