Principles of Legal Analysis Course
In the summer before their second year, students who qualify for the Directed Study Program will be enrolled in Principles of Legal Analysis, which focuses on honing the skills required for effective law school and bar exam writing. The course ends early in the semester and is taught in small sections by Professors Davies, Lee, and Patterson.
The Principles of Legal Analysis course begins in August, in the week prior to the beginning of the fall semester. Enrolled students will review skills learned in the first year and will be introduced to core analytical skills necessary for success in second-year subjects, such as Evidence and Constitutional Law. Students will also complete an extensive diagnostic test that will assist them in seeing specific areas where they can improve. During the fall semester, Principles of Legal Analysis students will complete several exercises and receive extensive feedback designed to help them successfully write law school exams and ultimately pass the bar exam.
