Student and Alumni International Stories

International Internships

Pacific McGeorge School of Law students and recent graduates are gaining invaluable international experience through internships:

  • Nicole Rangel (2010) just completed a 9-month internship with Judge Pocar in the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).  Nicole previously interned with a defense counsel, Peter Robinson, at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
  • Jessica Asfour (2011) spent the fall semester interning in a trial chamber at the ICTY. Jessica previously interned with a defense counsel, Peter Robinson, at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
  • Dominic Afzali (3D) interned at the International Criminal Court (ICC) from October to February. Dominic previously interned at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia.
  • Yen Phan (3D) is interning with the organization International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) in Geneva, Switzerland during summer 2011.  You can follow Yen's experience through her blog.
  • During fall semester 2011, four Pacific McGeorge students will intern at the ICTY: Yen Phan (3D), Danielle Wheeler (3D) and Eric Papathakis (2011) in chambers; Adam Guernsey (2011) in the Office of the Prosecutor.
  • Two alumni are presently working in international criminal tribunals: Cynthia Tai, '93 in the Office of the Prosecutor at the ICC Lauren Tipton, '08 at the Special Court for Sierra Leone.

Students Excel in International Moot Court Competitions

Pacific McGeorge students excelled in many international moot court competitions so far in 2011:
