Dispute Resolution Center (DRC)

"Your single source for dispute resolution . . . providing independent mediators, facilitators, hearing officers, arbitrators, and investigators."

WHAT IS THE DISPUTE RESOLUTION CENTER (DRC)?

The DRC is a full-service center providing a comprehensive array of dispute resolution services to:

▪ municipalities and State agencies
▪ local agencies and districts
▪ businesses

Impartial and independent professionals available through the DRC include:

▪ mediators and meeting facilitators
▪ hearing officers and arbitrators
▪ investigators.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DRC SERVICES?

DRC services are designed for parties seeking to:

▪ resolve their dispute in a prompt, efficient, and fair manner,

▪ reduce attorney fees and litigation costs, and/or

▪ maintain cooperative and productive working relationships.

WHAT SITUATIONS ARE APPROPRIATE FOR DRC SERVICES?

For mediation services:

▪ Almost any dispute between parties is appropriate for the time- and cost-saving benefits of mediation.

For meeting facilitation services:

▪ A meeting facilitator can help your organization conduct productive and efficient meetings involving multiple participants and/or multiple and complex issues where all views are heard and the participants achieve consensus and closure.

For hearing officer services:

▪ Municipalities, State and local agencies, and districts may be required to conduct administrative hearings to resolve internal disputes, disputes with other agencies or districts, or disputes with the public they serve. The DRC provides independent hearing officers for that purpose.

For arbitration services:

▪ Almost any civil dispute can be more efficiently presented and resolved through the presentation of evidence at an arbitration hearing rather than through a court or jury trial.

For investigator services:

▪ The DRC, through the Center for Independent Investigations in the Workplace, provides independent investigator services performed by attorneys and designed to meet an employer’s legal obligation to conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of discrimination and sexual harassment claims arising in the workplace.
