Biography

Patrick Blood joined Charles Roven's Atlas Entertainment in March 2013 to aide legal and business affairs internally at the company. He quickly absorbed all legal aspects of the company's large slate, including Atlas Independent. He also acts as corporate counsel for Atlas' recently launched talent management division, Atlas Artists'. Roven has utilized Blood's negotiation techniques and keen sense of detail to enhance the deal making process at the company and has been featured as one of Variety's "2014 Movers and Shakers" in the entertainment industry following his promotion to Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs in March of 2014. He has worked on projects such as American Hustle, Open Grave, Man of Steel, Mojave, The Hollow Point, The Monster, Twelve Monkeys (SyFy TV Series) Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, The Great Wall (2017), Wonder Woman (2017), and Justice League (2017), just to name a few.

Blood works closely with both internal executives and outside counsel to negotiate, review, redline, draft and close deals for both existing and new projects. He also provides day-to-day legal advice on issues and concerns relating to corporate governance, employment, intellectual property, and other general business matters. Since Blood oversees a large slate of projects from development through distribution, he works closely with studio executives to accomplish goals during all stages of the film's lifetime from right's acquisitions, talent negotiations and ensuring timely delivery and accurate reporting during distribution. Blood also serves as Production Co-Counsel on all Atlas Independent films.

During his time at McGeorge, Blood helped launch the University of the Pacific student run record label, Pac Ave Records through a directed research with Professor Thomas Brierton. From 2011-2012, Blood served a co-mediator with Federal District Court Judge Craig Kellison, where he mediated federal claims in the Eastern District of California as part of the Pacific McGeorge Prisoner Civil Rights Mediation Clinic. Blood is quoted as saying, "The clinic provided me invaluable real life experience that not every law student gets to experience. Clinical work changed the way I thought about the legal process and left a distinct imprint on me both personally and professionally."

He also participated in McGeorge's study abroad program in Salzburg which he regards "as one of my favorite experiences in my life to date. Learning from Justice Kennedy is something only a handful of people in this world can say, and I am proud to be one of them! And getting to study in the gorgeous town of Salzburg didn't hurt either."

Blood served on the Student Bar Association for three years, President of the Entertainment Law Association for two years and also served on the boards of Phi Alpha Delta, Latino Law Student Association, Middle Eastern South Asian Association, Junior Barristers Club, and Students for a Better McGeorge. He was awarded the Individual Most Committed to Promoting Diversity and Student Leader of the Year awards during his third year.

Blood graduated with B.A., cum laude, in Politics and a minor in Legal Studies from the University of California: Santa Cruz and a J.D., with distinction, from McGeorge School of Law and inducted into the Traynor Honor Society. He is also member of American Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
