Class of 2011 Commencement Ceremony

Here are details about the 2011 University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law Commencement.

Date and time
Commencement is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The ceremony will not exceed 2 1/2 hours. Attendees should plan to arrive at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium no later than 1:15 p.m. to assemble for the academic processional. There is no secure storage space, purses, etc. should be left in the trunk of a car. The doors open for guests at 12:30 p.m. Seating is open and unreserved.

Location
Commencement will take place at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium at 1515 J St., Sacramento, CA 95814. Guests of graduates should enter from J Street. Graduates, the platform party and special guests should enter from 15th Street.

Commencement speaker
The 2011 speaker is Judge Kimberly J. Mueller of the U.S. District Court for eastern California.

Student speakers
The student speakers will be announced after their selection.

Caps and gowns
Caps and gowns are provided by Pacific McGeorge at no cost. They will be available for checkout at the bookstore after Monday, May 9. The gowns have been laundered, but graduates are urged to have them pressed prior to commencement.

Rehersal
Rehearsal will be in the Lecture Hall on Thursday, May 12 at 4:30 p.m. It will be repeated on Friday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. Rehearsals should last about 30 minutes. Graduates should try to attend the rehearsal that is most convenient for them.

Diplomas
Diplomas will not be in the case received on the stage during the ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony (after any personal pictures with family and friends are taken), please return to the assembly area. After returning cap, gown, and hood, graduates may pick up their diplomas from the Registrar and staff who will be stationed in the assembly area. Complimentary degrees will be included with the diploma.

Reception
Immediately following commencement, an open-house reception will be held on the Pacific McGeorge campus in our graduates' honor. Graduates and their guests are cordially invited to attend the wine and hors d’oeuvres reception. The campus will be open for touring.
