Constitution Day Panel Reviews Ruling

Professors Brian Landsberg and John Sims will discuss the Supreme Court ruling in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez in a Constitution Day program from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010, in Classroom C. By a 5-4 vote, the high court determined last June that UC Hastings College of the Law could refuse to recognize its CLS chapter because the latter violated Hastings policy banning discrimination against gays and lesbians. The case raises interesting First Amendment issues and the discussion will surely be lively and provocative. The event is free and open to the public. Cookies and soft drinks will be provided.
