Uelmen Delivers Ashe Lecture

Gerald Uelmen, one of California’s most prominent legal scholars and well-known attorneys, delivered the 35 th Annual Annual Lou Ashe Lecture on January 31 at Pacific McGeorge.

Uelmen, the former dean of Santa Clara School of Law and a long-time professor of criminal procedure, spoke on “Wrongful Convictions.” He also served as the Pacific McGeorge Distinguished Advocate-in-Residence, meeting with law students earlier in the day to discuss conflicting marijuana laws and meeting with high school students later in the afternoon to talk about the American justice system. The Lou Ashe Lecture highlights present-day problems in the law. Over the years, well-known presenters have included Gloria Allred, Robert Shapiro, Richard “RaceHorse” Haynes, and Vincent Bugliosi.
