Rolling Down the River

Over 450 students participated in the annual Raft Race on the American River on September 15, followed by a BBQ at Goethe Park with faculty, administration and staff. Dean Rindskopf Parker's raft led the way as the students floated several miles down the American River, laden with snacks and beverages.

This year, the Student Bar Association included a costume contest for the student rafts and the three judges decided the three-way tie for both first and second place. The Pirates, Baywatch, and Running with the Bulls (a group of international students) celebrated victory with a dinner at Paragary's restaurant. Under the leadership of Kirsten Brown, SBA President, and working with Mary McGuire in the Dean of Students Office, Kirsten's four Raft Race Co-Chairs Jessica Haymond, Kira Kwan, Paloma Perez and Leslie Ramos planned a great event!

Big thanks to Professors Brungess, Coletta, Galves, and McCaffrey for attending and helping cook at the BBQ. Thanks also to Max Stamm, John Canevari and Armando Coro from Buildings & Grounds for setting up the BBQ area and helping with the cooking and to Officer Ruben Cantu who provided security.
